Grand Prairie Host's the Sticks for Kids Program
Grand Prairie is one of 100 agencies in the nation serving as a pilot site for the 2007 Sticks for Kids program.

Sticks for Kids is a FREE golf program designed to teach the golf basics to kids who have never played. They will learn everything from golf etiquitte to how to swing a club and read a putting green.

There is no registration fee and loaner clubs are available to use at no charge to the students.

To inquire about class times call the Charly Taylor Recreation Center at 972-264-6890. Space is limited to allow for enough one-on-one instruction to make the program effective. Kids are accepted into the program on a first come first serve basis.

The program is sponsored by the National Recreation and Parks Association and the Golf Course Building Association of America.

“We are so proud to have been selected to participate in this national program,” said Rick Herold, Parks and Recreation Director. “This will give kids an opportunity to expand their horizons, practice a new sport and possibly create a golfer for life.”
